A QUICK GLANCE AT THE FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY


The Faculty of Psychology is located in a modern building at the Campus of Espinardo, in the outskirts of Murcia. It began offering courses in 1975.
 
Studies
The Faculty provides an academic offer comprising the following official titles:
 
Bachelors:
• Psychology
• Speech Therapy
 
Masters Studies:
• Master in Health Psychology
• Master in Educational Psychology
• Master in Psychology of Social Intervention
 
This offer is completed with a wide range of non-official studies available through two professional training schools:
• The School of Psychological Practice, fruit of collaboration between the University of Murcia and of the Official College of Psychologists of the Region of Murcia
• The School of Speech Therapy Practice, created in 2018, fruit of   collaboration between the University of Murcia and the Official College of Speech Therapists of Murcia

Staff
 
The Faculty has 115 professors divided among 5 Departments:
- Human Anatomy and Psychobiology
- Personality and Psychological Evaluation and Intervention
- Basic Psychology and Methodology
- Psychiatry and Social Psychology
- Developmental and Educational Psychology
42 additional professors from different Faculties (such as Medicine or Law) also teach at the Faculty.

Quality
All official titles offered at the Faculty have passed the quality accreditation assessment by the National Agency for the Quality in Higher Education. There is a permanent Committee to guarantee quality standards.

Research
In the research field, the Faculty of Psychology has a wide structure of research and teaching laboratories in the center. Its research groups also have access to the   Psychological Instrumentation Service of the University of Murcia that offers essential research resources for the university community and society.
In the academic year 2016/17, the Faculty had 19 research groups with 139 researchers implied in them (89 were full-time staff and 50 part-time staff). Most of them are from Departments of the Faculty.
 
Applied Psychology
In the field of Applied Psychology to society and the rest of the University community, the Faculty offers a specialized intervention service through the Applied Psychology Service. There is also a School of Professional Practice.
 
Scientific International Journal
 
The Faculty has its own journal, Anales de Psicología, edited by the Publications Service of the University of Murcia and run by a team from all the areas and Departments of the Faculty. It was created in 1984 and from 2009 it is listed in the Journal of Citation Reports (JCR) by Thomson Reuters (nowadays Clarivate Analytics) where it has an Impact Factor of 0.871 in 2016 (0.574 in 2015) meaning a Q3 (the sixth journal of Psychology in Spain). In SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) de Scopus (Elsevier)  achieves an impact factor of 0.435, what implies a Q2 (The sixth Spanish journal of Psychology). In the Google Scholar Metrics, in July 2017 it was the first Spanish journal of Psychology and the third world journal in Spanish language.
In 2016 it achieved the FECYT quality award, and meets all national and international editorial quality requirements. From   volume 33, 2017, all papers are published in English.
 
Mobility
The Faculty has an extensive network of mobility agreements with Universities in Europe, South America and USA. It has also agreements with most of the Psychology Faculties in Spain. The number of students conducting mobility is increasing year by year. In 2016/17, a total of 68 students participated in Mobility Programs. 67 were undergraduate students and 1 was an incoming Master Student.

EFC

From 2017/18, the Faculty offers bilingual Teaching through a methodology called English Friendly Course. This involves students receiving lectures in Spanish, however, all materials, bibliographic references, tutorials and exams are offered in English.
